Tucson based artist Tracy Ann Holmes, is a transplant to the desert yet she immediately loved its otherworldly landscapes. The tenacity & beauty of the life that survives this arid clime is a constant inspiration in her work. Inspiration also comes from her faith, the challenges of raising a family and what it means to be a woman.
Watercolors are Tracy's media of choice for her vibrant Sonoran Desert series. Her goal is to paint the many creatures and plants of the Sonora. Originals and Fine Art Giclee prints are available. Realism and bright splashes of color bring joy to the desert.
Tracy received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with an emphasis in Ceramics from Brigham Young University in 1998. With over 20 years of experience she utilizes ceramic in tile, mural and sculptural art. Her favorite mural technique is that of free form mosaics that utilize grout lines as design lines. With a strong background in drawing & painting, Tracy’s ceramic works are laid out with powerful compositions that convey their intended message. In 2014 Tracy attended the workshop of architectural ceramics artists Peter King & Xinia Marin so she could expand her skill-set to create public artworks that will last for generations. Ceramic and painting commissions accepted.
Tracy taught in the public school system for five years and loves teaching art to young and old. She continues to teach youth and adult art classes. By sharing her talents with others she is able to help empower others to create art and enjoy the work of their hands.
