As long as I can remember, I've been focused on creating art in various forms, from early endeavors in drawing and poetry, culminating in my passion for creating wearable art as jewelry. I was time-constrained during my professional working years in the microchip industry. But once I retired, I jumped in full-time. I developed friendships with those working in bead shops, who introduced me to a variety of beads and natural stones. I immersed myself in classes and beading groups, where my first passion was bead crochet, a technique still among my works now with much more complicated designs, often requiring a computer to lay out the design first. The camaraderie among us was wonderful; we shared our design creations and taught each other various techniques.
I branched out by incorporating more materials, from brilliant Swarovski crystals, to 40 million-year-old fossils. I became self-taught in bead weaving without a loom, free-form woven creations, wire-wrapping, and bead embroidery extending the beauty of natural stones. I'm now working closer with the true, natural source, as my husband prospects, mines, cuts, shapes, and polishes many of the cabochons I wire wrap or embroider as necklace pendants, or weave into bracelets.
Having participated in galleries and art shows in Phoenix, Chandler, Sun Lakes, Gold Canyon, and Colorado, we are now resident in SaddleBrooke, ready to fully engage the world of beading and natural stones in the Tucson community.
